Jessica Wethington McLean
Producer / Festival Director
As Executive Director of Councilmember José Huizar’s Bringing Back Broadway, Jessica oversees the economic development initiative focused on the revitalization of Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles. The Night on Broadway festival was born from Jessica’s idea (after Day on Broadway) to expose Angelenos to the incredible historic theatres along the street by producing simultaneous live entertainment, thus boosting awareness of Broadway as the core of Downtown’s growth and activity. The event has become the annual celebration of Councilmember Huizar’s Bringing Back Broadway initiative. Other aspects of the Broadway initiative include: the adopted Broadway Entertainment Community Design Overlay; the Broadway Streetscape Master Plan; Broadway Façade Lighting Grant Program; Historic Commercial Reuse Guidelines; the Historic Broadway Sign District; and the Downtown LA Streetcar project. Jessica also manages City Council involvement in the complex implementation of private entitlement projects contributing to Broadway’s revitalization, which in turn fuels Downtown as the Los Angeles region’s economic engine. And, she acts as the liaison between numerous City and public departments and agencies, civic and business organizations, and community stakeholders who collaborate on the initiative.
